We finished building Daisymay Lodge in May 2000 for the sole purpose of housing as many stray and un-wanted ferrets. There are 8 separate pens 6ft x
3ft on the outside of the shed that are attached to nesting boxes that are situated inside the shed, that are accessible through a small hole at the back of
the pen. These pens will house at least 70 ferrets in comfort. Inside we have 9 more pens.During the Summer months all the inside pens are full. Each day
the groups play in the shed and outer run where it is equipped with tubes, planks and toys.

The lodge was so named in the memory of a dear little polecat jill that was found in a factory in Birmingham in April 1999.Daisy came to us pregnant
but unfortunately all her kits were still-born on May 23rd 1999.We took her to the Vet for a check up as she was very weak and were advised to have
her spayed as soon as she was strong enough. It took about a month to get Daisy ready for her op.When the Vet operated on her he found a massive
tumour on her spleen and sadly Daisy died under anaesthetic. The Vet couldn't understand how she had pulled through as long as she did.Because
she spent every waking moment with us in the house we felt cheated that such a beautiful little ferret had been taken from us due to the previous
owner's obvious un-caring nature. So in memory of her will to live we named our lodge Daisymay.

We decided to build the lodge so that we could house all the ferrets in one place and get rid of the smaller pens
around the garden and in the conservatory, the lodge itself is 12 feet x 14 feet.
